The Key Buyers Event is a content market aimed at the presentation of the Russian content to international buyers, a unique business platform to build strong ties between Russian companies and key global industry players.
First Key Buyers Event was held in October 2019 with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The offline event attracted buyers and commissioners acquiring content for over 60 territories and screened over 120 Russian films, TV series and animation projects. In addition, participants were able to learn more about film and TV production in Russia, which offers generous financial incentives, world-class facilities and location diversity.
In June 2020, The Key Buyers Event: Digital Edition was held by ROSKINO, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Moscow Government. This event was modelled on the success of the inaugural Key Buyers Event and became a full-scale multi-functional digital market for buyers, producers, filmmakers, and media. The online platform allowed to showcase the full landscape of titles and film services that Russia has to offer.
The Key Buyers Event: Digital Edition event welcomed more than 1400 registered participants and over 600 international users from 70 countries, with the largest number of buyers coming from the United States, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, and China. The market presented a wide range of national content (both completed and in post-production), encompassing film, TV, and animation with 120 Russian companies presenting 300 exclusive titles that generated over 600 meetings with international organizations.
The event attracted leading international organizations including; Apple TV, France Televisions, Wild Bunch, Lionsgate, Dogwoof, RTL, AMC Networks, Mediaset, Beta Film, Koch Media, Iqiyi and others. The platform hosted content negotiations, screenings, co-production pitches, panel discussions, cultural events, and networking. During the event, a number of deals were finalized.
A range of production and distribution companies participating included Central Partnership; Planeta Inform Group of Companies; Art Pictures Distribution; Art Pictures Studio; Mars Media Entertainment; Bazelevs; Yellow, Black and White Group; CTB Film Company and PREMIER Studios. Also involved are SVOD platforms Start and more.tv, alongside animation companies such as Soyuzmultfilm, Wizart, Riki Group and many more. The major Russian content industry players welcomed the event, noting that it was a perfect communication and business platform enabling Russian content makers to keep up the pace and present the best titles to international partners.
